Originally released in 1981, Orchestra Baobab’s second studio album, *Sibou Odja* – produced at the Golden Baobab in Dakar by the young producer Ibrahima Sylla – has been reissued by Syllart Records.
Following their masterpiece *Mouhamadou Bamba*, recorded in the same year, *Sibou Odja* was to once again make its mark on the history of Senegalese music, propelling the group’s success into a new musical decade. Under the leadership of the dynamic saxophonist Issa Sissokho and the ever-present guitarist Barthélémy Attiso, it was notably the young singer Médoune Diallo – a future icon of Senegalese salsa – who delivered one of his masterpieces with the irresistible ‘Autorail’, a driving track celebrating the opening of the railway line linking Dakar to Niamey.
The mastering was carried out using the master tapes from the album’s studio recording. The cover is a reproduction of the original. The LP includes a printed inner sleeve. The cover features a glossy finish to remain as faithful as possible to the original release.
