The first album to feature John Coltrane’s classic quartet line-up of McCoy Tyner on piano, Elvin Jones on drums and Jimmy Garrison on bass, ‘Coltrane “Live” At The Village Vanguard’ is an electrifying display of virtuosity and one of the greatest live jazz albums of all time. Recorded in November 1962, it also features Eric Dolphy on a couple of tunes. Remastered from the original analogue tapes, it’s reissued as part of Verve’s Acoustic Sounds Series.
