Once their previous band The Beat had disbanded, Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger joined with former members of Dexys Midnight Runners, The Specials, and The Clash to form General Public. 'Hand To Mouth' was their second album, originally released in 1986. The Clash's Mick Jones had left by the time it was released and though it was less successful than their debut it still showcased their smooth, horn-driven pop.
