Fatima Al Qadiri - 3TWI

3TWI - Fatima Al Qadiri’s new EP - is Kuwaiti femme slang for dirty old man; literally “male alley cat.” Over four regional club tracks, Al Qadiri explores this humorous background character with vocal collaborators Bobo Secret, Lama3an and Gumar, conceptually following her long-term pre-occupation with dance music, gender identity and performance in West Asia. A musical homage and love letter to WA folk dance traditions, 3TWI celebrates the region’s ethnic diversity and the shared love of music lore across borders through a coy queer lens. Lyrically split between suggestive spoken word and yearning anthems, the songs are queer in intent and largely improvised, in Kuwaiti and Classical Arabic, and the 3eemi Farsi dialect.
