An immersive meditation in sound Grammy award-winning and pioneering composer Eric Whitacre releases a major new electro-choral work for voices, strings, piano, and electronics.
To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wildflower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand
And eternity in an hour.
— William Blake, from Auguries of Innocence —
Inspired by William Blake’s poem, Auguries of Innocence, this immersive meditative sound is a 60-minute work which first premiered at the BBC Proms in 2024. Conducted by Eric, this work combines his first love of electronica and synthesisers with choral music. “My hope with Eternity in an Hour is that the music will help the listener (and the performers and, candidly, me) experience a little bit of that awe and timelessness.” – Eric Whitacre
