Butthole Surfers - After The Astronaut

Butthole Surfers recorded After The Astronaut in 1998 following the unexpected success of ‘Pepper’. Pushing further into electronics, hip-hop rhythms and warped acid grooves, the sessions produced one of the band’s most adventurous collections.

Disputes with Capitol Records left the album shelved, and some of the material was later reworked for Weird Revolution. The original recordings, however, quietly gathered a mythic reputation among fans.

Now finally completed and newly mixed by guitarist and producer Paul Leary, After The Astronaut presents the record as it was intended. The result captures Butthole Surfers stretching their sun-scorched psychedelia into stranger territory — a bold late-90s evolution that reveals a different chapter in the band’s story.
