Amon Tobin - Permutation: 25th Anniversary

Amon Tobin’s critically acclaimed third album, the modern classic, ‘Permutation’, celebrates its 25th anniversary with this special edition, featuring a revamped sleeve with a die-cut window on the front to view expanded inner sleeve artwork by the original
designer, the legendary Kevin Foakes AKA Openmind.

Originally released in 1998, ‘Permutation’ showcases some of the finest experimental breakbeats, injected with the pioneering Tobin’s idiosyncratic sounds.

‘Permutation’ tracks have had film placements in movies like ‘Beautiful Boy’ (‘Bridge’, 2018) and ‘Closer’ (‘Nova’, 2004). Tobin’s music has regularly made appearances in film, television and video games, with Tobin enlisted to score soundtracks for ‘Splinter Cell:
Chaos Theory’ (2005) and ‘Infamous’ (2009).

2007’s ‘The Foley Room’ was on the OCC Official Dance Albums Chart for two weeks, peaking at Number 9. The album also made the Official Independent Albums Chart (peaking at #18), as did ‘Supermodified’ (#39), ‘Out From Out Where’ (#32) and the ‘Chaos Theory’ original soundtrack (#40).

‘Permutation’ is one of Pitchfork’s highest rated albums of all time at #104 (9.8). The album’s rating by Rolling Stone also made it their second highest rated jazz album of the 1990s.
