If Head Over Heels represented a tentative exploration of Cocteau Twin's soon-to-be trademark dreampop vision, then Treasure was arguably the full realization of Robin Guthrie and Liz Fraser's singular talents. With the arrival of full-time bassist Simon Raymonde into the fold, the band's songwriting on Treasure matches the lofty aims of this ethereal masterpiece. While the achingly beautiful 'Lorelei' would become a sort of calling card for the group, the equally euphoric anthem 'Aloysius' encapsulates the other-worldly sound that made the Cocteau Twins one of the most influential bands of the 1980s.
