Pedro Barrios & Barbara Piperno - SOLO O CON COLOR

‘SOLO O CON COLOR’ is a concept album based on the Yoruba proverb “A bird cannot fly with only one wing,” an idea that, for Pedro Barrios and Barbara Piperno, describes the nature of all things, including music.

‘SOLO O CON COLOR’ is therefore the result of a blend of personal encounters, diverse musical inspirations and influences, instrumental timbres and conceptual approaches to music making. 

This album is constructed as a cohesive whole, inseparable, filled with dialogues between traditions and instruments and brimming with melodic, verbal and rhythmic references between tracks. 

It is an album united by a common thread that is sometimes obvious, and at other times almost invisible, subtle. Each track is a small musical universe, which becomes fully understood when considered as a microcosm of ‘SOLO O CON COLOR’. The compositional approach embraces genres including samba, Afro-Cuban music, classical music and more.
