In 1954 and 1956, Jacques Brel’s first live performances in the cabarets ‘Chez Geneviève’
and ‘Chez Gilles’ were transmitted on the radio.
In July 1965, at the peak of his career, Jacques Brel recorded a jam session at the Maison de la Radio, during which he delivered a moving rendition of ‘Amsterdam’, accompanied only by Gérard Jouannest on piano and Pierre Sim on double bass.
This release also features a live recital recorded for the program ‘Discoparade’ at the Alhambra in 1962, where the artist - now far from his modest beginnings - is accompanied by a piano and a string ensemble.
