Lost classic Armageddon resurfaces for its 50th Anniversary. Armageddon was formed in 1974, and their self-titled debut, Armageddon, released in 1975, was recorded in England and released in the United States on A&M Records. The albums' original liner notes use the term "supergroup", as their personnel were drummer Bobby Caldwell (previously a member of Captain Beyond), singer Keith Relf (who had fronted the band the Yardbirds and was a co-founder of Renaissance), guitarist Martin Pugh (from Steamhammer), and bassist Louis Cennamo (also formerly of Renaissance and Steamhammer). Armageddon
came to life and caught the attention of Peter Frampton who got Armageddon signed to his record label. The group's promising future was side-tracked by Relf's health issues and only performed live twice which didn't allow their self-titled album to gain traction despite positive reviews and exposure on FM radio. The group soon collapsed and Relf died several months later leaving only their selftitled album as their only recorded output. Now for the 50th Anniversary Armageddon has been remastered and repackaged in a beautiful gatefold on 180G “Atomic Red” vinyl and is limited to only 500 copies worldwide.
