SOPHIE’s seminal first release on Numbers from 2013, repressed on Numbers. A double A-side if ever there was one, ‘Bipp’ is a spectacle of hyperpop, bass and rave elements shot through a canon, built around a chopped pitched-up vocal - “I can make you feel better”. On the flip, ‘Elle’ fuses dirty south with the thud of the UK bass spectrum, nailing the rare balance of being constructed with minimal parts but sounding absolutely gigantic. A lightning-bright detuned synth lead carves through the middle, demonstrating SOPHIE’s penchant for spectacle that would define her releases.
